Coaching, Online Offerings and Workshop FAQs

What is Coaching?

Coaching is NOT therapy. I work exclusively with Parents and Caregivers on how to best support their loved ones in a way that is action-orientated, future-focused and time limited. In this coaching capacity, I do not work with Parents regarding any of their own mental health issues or work one on one with the adolescent or young adult.

Coaching vs. Therapy: What's the Difference?

Therapy is focused on providing specific interventions with an individual with a diagnosed mental health issue. Therapy will often focus on exploring the past and tends to be long-term in nature. Coaching with me, in contrast, is short term, highly focused on the present and future, and only executed with Parents and Caregivers.

Is Coaching right for me or is an Online Offering or Workshop a better fit?

Great question! If you are a Parent or Caregiver looking for concrete skills to help you help your child who is struggling with eating issues, from how to navigate looking for a higher level of care for an eating disorder to helping employ tools to help your child struggles with body image, any option may be a great fit.

  • Coaching is great if you want highly individualized support or if you have a specific struggle you would like to address.

  • The Online Course is perfect if you want to access help in bite-sized pieces anytime, anywhere and at your own pace or if complete privacy is a priority.

  • The Workshops are fantastic if you want a "boot camp" to get skills quickly in a supportive environment with me and other Parents.

What can I expect with Coaching?

Individual Parent Coaching will consist of sessions with me and any involved Caregivers that would like to attend. I will tailor sessions to your specific needs and concerns, provide resources, homework and recordings of sessions to reference. We will set very specific goals for the work and I will help you make progress to achieve those goals. Your child or loved one will not be involved in these sessions, but your work will be 100% focused on getting them help by getting you help.

My kid has a diagnosed eating disorder. Can this help?

Yes. Many of the tools I use to help Parents were developed as an adjunct to treating Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating Disorder at treatment centers and in home settings, like families using Family Based Treatment. As an FBT provider myself, I would ensure our work would only support the goals and mission of you and your FBT team. If your child has been diagnosed with an eating disorder, you will need a full treatment team, but classes, webinars and coaching can be an invaluable adjunct to your work with. your child's team.

My kid doesn't have an eating disorder, but I am worried about their eating. Can this help?

Yes. The online courses, webinars and coaching sessions are built to help parents whose children are struggling anywhere along the spectrum of eating issues, from some occasional binges and mentions of body image distress all the way to a diagnosis of an eating disorder. Early intervention, open communication and helping your child develop Emotion Regulation tools to manage feelings, without going to food, dieting or body image behaviors, can help them immensely.

My kid also has a mental health issue (anxiety, depression, OCD, etc.). Can this help?

Yes. The tools that form the basis of my approach have been applied to a large variety of mental health issues. Whether your child is struggling with depression, anxiety, or any other mental health issue, these tools can help you provide the support they need at home to make progress in their treatment. In addition to your work here, if your child has a diagnosable mental health issue or if you are concerned they might, please seek treatment from a licensed therapist in your area.

My kid needs therapy. Can they work with you?

No. Through Bryn Miller Coaching, I work ONLY with Parents and Caregivers. This allows my work to be laser-focused on providing the best possible support to Parents. However, doing this work in addition to your child seeing their own therapist can be a huge asset to their treatment progress. If your child needs a treatment team, please reach out to a provider in your area.

Are there lower cost options?

Yes. The online courses and live webinars were designed to be more accessible to parents both financially and in terms of flexibility. Through the Online Offerings, Parents can access hours of videos with me, worksheets and resources for less than the cost of one traditional therapy session. Also, be sure to sign up for the Newsletter for free resources sent to your inbox monthly.

What is your cancellation policy?

For coaching sessions, you may cancel with a full refund 48 hours prior to a session. For online offerings and webinars, we offer a free money back guarantee. If you are not satisfied with the course or webinar, we will refund your money in full within 30 days.
